Ubiterra Announces Release of ZoneVu 6.5 with Advanced Target Line Workflows, Expanded Metric Support, and Major Viewer Enhancements

DENVER, Colorado — February 2025 — Ubiterra today announced the release of ZoneVu Version 6.5, a substantial update to the company’s cloud-native drilling, geosteering, and completions platform. The release delivers major new capabilities for well planning visualization, geosteering workflows, frac operations, API integration, and user interface customization.

ZoneVu 6.5 introduces the new Target Line Tool, allowing users to create and manage multiple types of drilling target lines directly within cross-sections, 3D viewers, and map displays. The tool supports customizable drilling windows, floating waypoints, MD and VS workflows, and enhanced support for complex U-turn well geometries.

The release also significantly upgrades the Wellbore Modification Tool, providing improved visualization controls, export and clipboard functionality, multi-select editing, and expanded support for advanced horizontal well trajectories.

A new Curve Mnemonic Auto-Assignment Tool streamlines LAS registration workflows by automatically assigning master mnemonics during log loading. Ubiterra also expanded its supported mnemonic catalog to include 176 drilling, geosteering, mudlog, XRD, and XRF curve types.

ZoneVu 6.5 further expands operational flexibility with a new Well Copy capability, upgraded dropdown menu systems with nested flyout support, a fully integrated Knowledge Base Widget, and dynamic button trees that can be positioned anywhere within the Viewer interface.

The update delivers major enhancements to ZoneVu Frac, including full metric-unit support for display, import, and export workflows, simplified frac import/export dialogs, upgraded stage table functionality, and new proppant and water-per-length calculations.

Ubiterra also expanded the ZoneVu API and Python SDK to support additional datasets including seismic faults, seismic horizons, and survey header data, further strengthening the platform’s integration and automation ecosystem.

Additional enhancements include new 3D Viewer vertical exaggeration controls, expanded metric support throughout the platform, upgraded Scene Snapshot workflows, improved geosteering usability, significant project loading performance improvements, and a broad set of bug fixes and workflow refinements across the system.

“ZoneVu 6.5 reflects our continued focus on improving the day-to-day operational workflows that technical teams rely on during drilling and completions operations,” said Peter Flanagan, CEO of Ubiterra. “The combination of advanced target line visualization, stronger support for complex well geometries, expanded metric workflows, and deeper automation through our API and Python SDK gives operators greater flexibility and efficiency across a wide range of drilling environments. We are particularly excited about how these improvements help technical teams collaborate more effectively while reducing operational friction in real-time workflows.”
